The Bayelsa state government has said that Private schools in the State won’t charge the first term school fees for the 2020/2021 session, but third term fees for the just-finished up session will be paid.
This decision was reached during a meeting at the Education House in Yenagoa between the state Ministry of Education and the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Nigeria Union of Teachers, and the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools of Nigeria.

The gathering followed contention about whether or not the assortment of fees for the third term was legitimate in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the staggering flood which forced the government to close down schools fourteen days after resumption in October.
The Commissioner for Education, Gentle Emelah, who managed the gathering, said the choice was pointed toward facilitating the monetary weight on guardians.
He stated, “For reasonableness, the government figured it insightful to consider the guardians seeing that the pandemic and the flood circumstance carried difficulty to everybody.
“It is exceptionally important to ease parents of some weight. There is the requirement for schools to continue and rapidly adjust the exceptional third term and promptly continue the initial term without another expense charged for the term
