Likewise, the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi through his official Twitter handle said the rail line has started operation “with just one return” for the time being.

“For the present, as per the NRC, just one return trip day by day, leaving Ibadan at 8:00 am for Lagos and leaving Lagos for Ibadan at 4:00 pm,” Ogunlesi said.

Ogunlesi in his tweet added that the “Speed and limit will increase with time,” in light of the fact that, “there’s still some development work progressing.”

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, a week ago, while talking in Abuja at the inauguration of elected members from the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA), unveiled that President Muhammadu Buhari will commission the recently built Lagos-Ibadan rail line by January 2021.

The Lagos-Ibadan railway, one of the significant activities left on by the Federal Government, is being handled by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
