Wike, Amaechi’s Loyalists Clash Over Party Members’ Defection In Rivers State

The recent defection of some politicians from the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress and the other way around, has pitted Governor Nyesom Wike’s loyalists and those of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, against one another.

Spokesman of the Amaechi-led APC group, Ogbonna Nwuke, in a statement, in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, stated, the recent choice by two previous State Commissioners of the PDP chapter, to join the APC was confirmation that the PDP has been dismissed.

In any case, Media Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, Jackson Owhor, portrayed the exit of the two previous officials from the PDP as “no love lost… ”

Recall that two previous partners to Amaechi, a former head of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, and the former Commissioner of Health in the State, Dr. Sampson Parker, additionally left the APC for the PDP.

In his statement, Nwuke stated, “On Saturday, the APC got six heavyweights into its overlay. Five of them were from the PDP while one was from another ideological group.

“Most of the deserters are previous individuals from the PDP who are burnt out on having a Senior Prefect that is quick transforming into a tyrant, as their chief.

“It isn’t amazing that everything is pivoting to benefit Rivers individuals. The untruths that the PDP has continually advised to its individuals are starting to self-destruct.

“We invite our siblings and companions who have gone along with us from PDP. Streams State has a place with us all and together, we will rescue our State.”

Accordingly, Owhor excused the defection of two previous chiefs, Ibinabo Michael-West and Dr. John Bazia as irrelevant.
