Windows 10 allow the possibility of making adjustment to every tiny details when it comes to customising our Windows PC. Among these is the ability to lock and unlock the taskbar, which we will be talking about today.
There are many reasons why you may consider unlocking the taskbar, but the most prominent of this is that it pave way for the app icons pinned to the taskbar to be realign or adjust as per users need.

Furthermore, by unlocking the taskbar, users can drag the taskbar and placed it to the left, right, or top of the screen as shown in the image below. It also enable Windows 10 PC users to manually adjust the spacing between each app pinned to the takbar.
The taskbar is locked by default, here is how to unlock it:
1st Method
- On your desktop, right-click the taskbar
- A list of options will be presented, among the options select “Lock taskbar” to unlock the taskbar (it’ll be unticked)
You can follow the same procedure to relock the taskbar.
2nd Method
- On your desktop, right-click the taskbar
- A list of options will be presented. At the bottom select “Taskbar settings”
- A new window will be displayed. At the top of the list among the options you will see “Lock the taskbar”
Simply turn it off and close the window
