Android One Xiaomi Mi A1 with Dual Rear Cameras Goes Official

Xiaomi has finally announced its recently leaked Mi A1 device in India in partnership with Google, which is the company’s first Android One smartphone. At an event held in Delhi, Xiaomi revealed that its latest Android phone will be among the first to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update this year. Also, being on Android One means the Mi A1 is on Google list of device that’ll receive update for two consecutive years, this auto qualifies it for Android P update when it launch.

The Mi A1 doesn’t have all the bells-and-whistles of MIUI as it runs a stock Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. It is clad in a metal unibody that is 7.3mm thick, weighing 165 grams. In terms of specifications, it features a 5.5-inch LTPS 2.5D curved display with full-HD (1920×1080) resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits brightness, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Under the hood is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor running at a speed of 2.0GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. There is a 64GB of storage inside that users can expand up to 128GB via MicroSD slot provided, which also acts as a SIM slot and can accommodate a Nano SIM card if an user is contended with the phone built-in storage. A secondary Micro SIM slot is provided as well.

Moving on, the Mi A1 sports dual 12-megapixel rear-facing wide-angle camera lenses, the first (primary) touting an f/2.2 aperture, while the secondary one has a telephoto lens and f/2.4 aperture for depth of view, background blur and other effects. A 5-megapixel camera is equipped at the front for taking selfie.

The phone has a fingerprint sensor at the back for smart security and it also comes with an Infrared sensor, which can be use with a remote control app to operate home electronic appliances. It offers Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11ac (dual band), 4G VoLTE, 3G, 2G, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C as connectivity options and is backed by a 3080mAh/3000mAh battery.

Painted in Black, Rose Gold and Gold colors, the Mi A1 will be available at online (FlipKart, Mi Store) and offline stores across India starting September 12th at a price of Rs 14,999 ($225).
