International Students Tuition & Fees 2021/2022
Tuition | Charges for all full-time entering MSW students are estimated to be a flat tuition rate of $26,036 per semester and are eligible to enroll for 10.5 to 19.5 credit hours each term. Students enrolled in the part-time programs will be charged $1,734 per credit. Students also are charged $1,734 per credit for credits over 19.5. NOTE: Tuition charges for students in the 5-term International Students Program are estimated to be $21,802 each for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 terms. Students in the Advanced Standing Program will be charged $10,404 for the Summer 2021 term. Ph.D. students registered for 9 or more credit hours in a term will be charged $26,722 and those registered between 3 and 8 credit hours in a term will be charged $14,474. |
Activity Fee | The activity fee is charged per term to all students to help cover the costs of student events, activities, and to help fund student organizations. |
Services and Support Services Fee | This mandatory fee per term for full-time and part-time students provides students access to the facilities at the Dodge Physical Fitness Center and Lerner Hall and supports enhancements for the libraries and computer networks. |
Instructional Technology Fee/Learning Resource Fee | The CSSW Instructional Technology and Learning Resource Fee is a mandatory fee per term and covers resources, services, and the technological infrastructure necessary to support in-person and online learning at CSSW. These include, but not limited to, learning management systems, technology support staff, video conferencing services, online guides, training and workshops, multimedia and instructional support resources, and software licenses. |
Health and Related Services Fee | The fee is charged to all full-time students by paying the Columbia Health and Related Services Fee (HRSF), students can access the programs and services provided through Columbia Health’s five departments, including 24/7 support from Counseling & Psychological Services, Medical Services, and Sexual Violence Response. A small portion of the HRSF supports the University Gender-Based Misconduct Office (GBM) Opens in a new window, so that GBM staff may fully collaborate with CH staff in providing necessary resources and support to students who have experienced sexual assault. Medical Insurance Fee | The fee is charged to all full-time students in order to provide them with basic medical insurance throughout the academic year. Students are insured from Aug. 15, 2021 until Aug. 14, 2022. NOTE: The Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan may not cover all of your health care expenses. The plan excludes coverage for certain services and contains limitations on the amounts it will pay. Student Events Fee | One-time fee for incoming students to cover orientation and graduation expenses. |
Document Fee | This one-time fee, assessed during the first term of attendance, entitles students to e-transcripts, enrollment and degree certifications, and the mailing of the original diploma. |
NOTE: Any student enrolled via an F-1 or J1 visa, which is processed through the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) is charged an ISSO fee each term.

Columbia School of Social Work Admission Requirements for International Students 2021/2022
The entry requirements for Columbia School of Social Work is that one should have an excellent profile and must show an evidence of english proficiency.
At a minimum, candidates for the MSW program must meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Academic record suggesting the ability to excel at graduate-level study.
- Serious commitment to the profession of social work and the capacity to meet the demands of professional training, often demonstrated by internships and life experiences.
- For non-native English speaking applicants only: a combined TOEFL score of 100 or higher; IELTS Band of 7.0 or higher; Duolingo English Test score of 120 or higher.
How to Apply to Columbia School of Social Work 2021/2022
To submit your application to Columbia SSW, applicants will submit their application through apply.ssw.columbia.edu/apply. The portal opens in August of each year for admissions in January and September of the following year.
