The former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission has described how she was saved from armed police officers who wanted to arrest her without a warrant of arrest.
Nunieh, who spoke from Government House in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said the heavily armed police officers tried to break the gate to her house before Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State came in and ordered them out of her premises.

She clarified that she had before called the Governor to tell him about the intrusion regarding her residence by police officers, adding that Wike acted the hero at the point the police officers were all the while attempting to pull down the security door to her room.
She stated, “They (police officers) began attempting to break the security door. Since it was a security door, they put so much energy to make sure they break it.
“Previously, I solicited them from their arrest warrant and they said they didn’t have any. I at that point said I can’t go with any of the officers. I have to see the warrant of arrest. We are not in a banana republic.
“Anyway, the Governor came and sent them out; and said for what reason would they come to capture a lady like a criminal? My Governor disclosed to them that they should leave the compound. I am securely here with my Governor in Government House, Port Harcourt.”
She added that she was getting ready to go to Abuja to give her statement to the House of Reps Committee before the police assaulted her home.
