The Chinese firm Meizu, has launched its first Ubuntu-powered smartphone dubbed MX4 Ubuntu Edition. The gadget was listed on the firm online store with a price tag of CN¥ 1799 (Roughly $290 USD).
The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is a variant of MX4 that was recently launched which runs Android OS. Both smartphones sports identical specifications besides the difference in operating system they run.

It features a 5.36-inch IPS display with a full-HD resolution of 1152×1920 pixels protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6595 processor slammed with 2GB of RAM.
In storage compartment, the Meizu MX4 comes in three variants, 16GB/32GB/64GB, all of which doesn’t support external storage. A 20.7-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flashlight take hold of the rear area and a 2-megapixel camera holds the upper front for video chatting.
Connectivity options included are 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. It is fuelled by a 3100mAh battery.
Most of Meizu smartphones never make it across China border and there’s no probability that MX4 Ubuntu Edition will make a difference, the BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition which wears the world’s first Ubuntu smartphone crown made it to UK and other European countries earlier this year. So, if you reside outside China and want to be part of Ubuntu fans i’ll suggest you go for Aquaris.
