Microsoft Delays Windows 10 Mobile Upgrade For Windows 8/8.1 Lumia Devices

Microsoft announced in early October that it will start seeding Windows 10 to selected Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 powered Lumia smartphones in December. Today however, the company has said the update will no longer be available till 2016, not specifying the exact date when the update will be roll out. The reason for this change of plan is not revealed.

In a statement issued out (via), Microsoft said “This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the
Lumia 950
and
950 XL. The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones.”

As at now, only three Lumia devices are currently running Windows 10 Mobile, the aforementioned Lumia smartphones and theLumia 550.

Microsoft on Friday launched Lumia 550 in India after having released it in Europe earlier this month. The device is currently the cheapest Windows 10 powered smartphone money can buy.
