A northern group, NYCN, Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, has admonished the Federal Government to make the Niger Delta Development Commission and the North East Development Commission, NEDC nonexistent. The reason for this admonishment is because they claim that the agency is allegedly taking Nigeria and Nigerians on a foul ride.
The National President of NYCN, and the Chairman of Nigeria Citizen Action Group, Isah Abubakar said this in an issued statement in Kaduna. He said it is a matter that should be looked into with immediate effect.
He further advised the Federal Government to join both Ministries and Commissions together in order to manage cost and also bring the issue of corruption to the barest minimum.
He went further to say that Godswill Akpabio, The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs should step down from his appointment so that a thorough probe can be made in the whole agency and ministry.

He said the function of the commission and the ministry is no longer in play. They are supposed to make sure that projects and developments in the Niger Delta region go at a fast pace but instead, they use it as an opportunity to steal resources meant for the Niger Delta region.

He noted that from the formation of the Nige Delta Development Commission up until now, a whole lot of money that can be put to good use in bringing development to the country has been stolen.
‘With the financial inspection of NDDC’s account, there is no way one will stop to at least say that if a committee similar is ready to probe the North East counterpart of the NDDC, they will both have very little or no difference at all. They both will not be needed if all government agencies work well and are corruption-free in their duties”
