We couldn’t have forgotten about NVIDIA even if we try to at this year consumer electronic show, we have already mentioned them plenty of times since the event began with several technology firms using their latest GPUs. NVIDIA itself brings a new product to showcase at the event, the 2017 edition of its SHIELD Android TV console. Bringing along lots of new additional features.

The new SHIELD TV console runs Android 7.0 Nougat, giving users access to lots of apps and entertaining games. It also supports live streaming in 4K resolution, and High Dynamic Range (HDR) feature included gives life to every single details of streamed contents that appear on the connected TV. NVIDIA has partnered with top streaming services such YouTube, Netflix, VUDU, and Google Play Movies to brink 4K HDR contents to users.

The console is powered by a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra X1 chipset with 256-core Maxwell GPU, while a 3GB of RAM handles all the multitasking. GeForce Now is loaded on deck to bring live game streaming service to users. NVIDIA also plans to brings Ubisoft catalog of hit to its game library in near future.

Video formats supported are Xvid, DivX, ASF, AVI, MKV, MOV, M2TS, MPEG-TS, MP4, and WEB-M. It can play 4K HDR contents at 60fps with the following codecs: H.265/HEVC, VP8, VP9, H.264, MPEG1/2, and full-HD contents at 60fps with H.263, MJPEG, MPEG4, and WMV9/VC1 codecs. The console comes with DTS surround sound and Dolby Atmos which enhances audio output for great listening pleasure.

The 2017 NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV console (with 16GB storage) bundled with remote control and game controller is available for pre-orders in Canada, U.S, and selected European markets at US$199.99, while a high-end variant dubbed SHIELD Pro with 500GB storage will be available later this month.
