This is not the first time Philips launched an Android TV, the first Android TV to be launched by the firm was a 65-inch 65PUS8098. The company has unveiled a new Android Powered TV at the ongoing IFA event, the Philips 8900.
The new Android TV features a 55-inch 4K Ultra-HD display and boots Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Google Play Store access out-of-the-box. It comes with a dedicated gesture remote control with an integrated camera.

Connectivity options included with the Philips 8900 are 3 USB ports, 4 HDMI ports, AV output, Ethernet ports, YPbPr port, and dual-band Wifi. Pricing details has not been revealed, but it is expected to start shipping in Q3 of this year.
