Polar M600 Fitness Tracker with GPS, Heart Rate Sensor runs Android Wear

The Europe-based technology firm Polar, has announced a new smartwatch with fitness tracker and GPS tracking capability called M600. The watch is based on Android Wear platform and can be use to track sleep, steps, jump, walk, and other recreational activities.

In addition, it includes a heart rate sensor that monitors the rate of heart beat in real-time, thanks to Polar proprietary 6-LED solution embedded underneath the watch that ensures accurate tracking. The built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) helps improve accuracy during outdoor exercise.

Polar M600 rear view

The Polar M600 features a 1.3-inch Transmissive TFT display with 240×240 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection that can be customized with different watch faces. Right below the display is the power button that also acts as a one-touch button for quick training control. Diving in, the smartwatch is powered by a dual-cor MediaTek MT2601 SoC with a clock speed of 1.2GHz, clubbed with 512MB of RAM. A 4GB of inbuilt storage is included as well.

Polar is not excluding swimmers in using its latest smartwatch as it is waterproof certified with IPX8 rating. Battery included is claimed to last up to 2 days with 8 hours of training when paired with Android phone, and 1 day with 8 hours of training when paired with iPhone via Polar app. Sensors onboard includes Accelerometer, Gyroscope, ALS (Ambient Light Sensor).

The Polar M600 will be available globally before September ends at a price of €349 (US$390). It comes in White and Black color options.
