MediaTek may have dominated low cost and mid-range smartphones segment because its cheaper for manufacturers to use, but Qualcomm is not giving up so easily. The firm has added four new chipsets to its Snapdragon 400 and Snapdragon 600 series, the 415, 425, 618, and 620.
The most popular ruling the market right now are Snapdragon 400, 410, and 615 with 64-bit architecture. The new set of chips may help the firm compete with MediaTek in low range segments, providing opportunities for mobile industries to offer more at a very cheap price.

The Snapdragon 415 and 425 supports up to 8-core (octa), which further push the limit in previous release. The 400 and 410 chipsets only support 4-core (quad). The sets also comes with the firm new Adreno 405 graphic processing unit (GPU) for improved performance in gaming and other activities.
On the other hand, the Snapdragon 618 and 620 chips use Cortex A72 cores that renders high performance when compared with Snapdragon 615 their predecessor, which uses Cortex A15 cores. Qualcomm also touts the next generation Adreno GPU imbibed in them and their supports of up to Quad-HD (2560×1600) display (maximum for 615 chipset is full-HD 1080×1920).
We may start seeing the new Snapdragon chips in mobile starting from Q2 2015.
