Xiaomi last month announced Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, today, the company has introduced the smartphone in China as Redmi Note 5. This is not to be mistaken with the one launched in India in February. Unlike the Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Chinese model comes with a 13MP front camera and not 20MP. Furthermore, the rear 12MP+5MP dual camera remains the same, but the primary rear camera of this have a larger 1.25 μm pixel size; an f/1.9 aperture as oppose to f/2.2, and it also supports dual pixel phase detection auto focus.

There is AI baked inside the camera software too that helps with certain features such Face Unlock, Portrait shot and beautification.
While the processor, RAM, storage and battery capacity remains the same, the new Chinese version boasts of an USB Type-C port with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and it also supports 4G VoLTE on both of its SIM slots. Let’s not forget that the Indian model only has USB 2.0 port with Quick Charge 2.0. To cap it all, this runs Google’s latest Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with MIUI 9.

The price starts at CNY 1099 ($173) for the 3GB RAM+32GB storage version; CNY 1399 ($221) for the 4GB RAM+64GB storage version, while the 6GB RAM+64GB storage version costs CNY 1699 ($268). It will be available from March 20th.
