Few days after Nokia announced that it has discontinued and stopped the development of it OZO VR 360-degree, sealing that section of its lab off, Samsung has taking the advantage to head-dive into the advance VR contents ecosystem with the launch of a new 360-degree camera called Samsung 360 Round.
The device has 17 lenses encompassing its light circular unibody and one single lens positioned vertically. As its naming implies, the 360 Round is aimed at content creators for developing high 4K 3D digital and 360-degree VR contents for livestreaming. The VR camera has a fanless design which Samsung said reduces the weight, eliminate background noise and reduce power consumption for extended use.

Contents develop can be share on select video platform such as Samsung VR, Facebook and YouTube. Furthermore, the Samsung 360 Round is water and dust resistant certified with IP65 for capturing in challenging environment.
In a press released, Suk-Jea Hahn, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Global Mobile B2B Team, said:

We have developed a product that contains innovative VR features, allowing video producers and broadcast professionals to easily produce high quality 3D content. The combination of livestreaming capabilities, IP65 water and dust resistance and 17 lenses makes this camera ideal for a broad range of use cases our customers want—from livestreaming major events to filming at training facilities across various industries.”
Each camera lens have a 2MP 1/2.8″ image sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Six microphones are hooked to the device for spacial sound and there are LAN and USB Type-C ports for connectivity. In addition, there is a 10GB of RAM and a 40GB of eMMC storage inside with supports of up to 256GB of additional storage via SD and up to 2TB via SSD.
The Samsung 360-degree 4K VR camera will be available sometime in October at a price of US$10,500.
