Samsung has officially announced its new budget smartphone, the Galaxy XCover 3. The phone is listed on the firm website and will go on sale from April at $285 USD.

Galaxy XCover 3 is an upgraded version of Galaxy XCover 2 that was launched in 2013, its picture and specifications leaked earlier this month.

According to specs listed(translated), the smartphone features a 4.5-inch PLS TFT display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box which is upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (unspecified) coupled with 1.5GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 is waterproof and can survive up to 30 minutes in one meter deep of water and dustproof with IP67 certification. It is shockproof and can withstand a drop of 1.2 meters height which earns it MIL-STD 810G military grade standard. At the rear, the gadget is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear camera that is capable of recording full-HD (1080p) videos while it houses a 2-megapixel front camera.

There’s an 8GB built-in storage onboard that is expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD card. Connectivity options included with Galaxy XCover 3 are Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, 3G, 4G LTE Cat.4, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, and GLONASS. It is backed by a 2200mAh battery.
