Members of the Senate Public Accounts Committee expressed great shock when the report of the Auditor-General for the Federation uncovered that authorities of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources burned through N116m to purchase biros, letterhead, and toners in a single year.
The breakdown of the expenditure demonstrated that the ministry burned through N14.5m to buy Schneider biros, N46m to print the ministry’s letterhead, and N56m to get toner for its copiers.

The AGF expressed this in his 2015 review report presently being examined by the Senate council drove by Senator Mathew Urhoghide.

The Chairman of SPAC requested the agent from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Godwin Akubo, to react to the inquiry by the AGF.
The ministry, in its reaction, stated, “The activity of the ministry was a fast reaction to the requirements of the different offices in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. These honors adhered to ordinary guidelines and methodology.
“The agreements were not part. They were granted to the different temporary workers at various occasions when things were required.
“The amount of N46.6m utilized for the printing of letterhead followed fair treatment and the enormous amount of cash is clarified by the volume of the created for a large portion of divisions.”
