Smartron srt.phone with Android 7.1, Snapdragon 652, 4GB RAM Announced

At an event held in India today, the Hyderabad-based phone maker Smartron, has announced a new Android smartphone called srt.phone. The new mid-budget device which happens to be the second flagship to be released by the firm since the introduction of t.phone last year runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

The firm also made it known at the event that its latest device is eligible to receive Android O update and promise to make the upgrade available shortly after Android O becomes official, the fate of which is likely to be determine at this year Google annual developer conference (I/O) scheduled later this month.

Another notable aspect worth mentioning is unlimited tcloud free cloud storage that Smartron is offering with each purchase. Technically, the srt.phone features a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touch display with full-HD (1920×1080) resolution, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset with 1.8GHz clock speed powered it on the inside, clubbed with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM.

The phone comes in two storage variants, 32GB and 64GB, none of which offers external expandable storage. The dual-SIM enabled srt.phone sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, BSI sensor, and LED flash, while a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens camera sits at the front for taking selfie. The rear camera can record video in 1080p and below it is a fingerprint scanner for smart security.

On the connectivity front, the phone supports Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac (dual band), 4G VoLTE, GPS/A-GPS + GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 2.0.

The Smartron srt.phone basic version with 32GB storage is priced at Rs 12,999 (US$195), and the high-end variant with 64GB storage at Rs 13,999 (US$210). It is available exclusively on FlipKart.
