TCL, a parent company of Alcatel OneTouch on Wednesday launched a new smartphone in India named Pride T500L. The device wears a price cap of Rs 10,499 ($161 USD) and is exclusively available for purchase on e-commerce website Snapdeal.
The main highlight of the device is its possession of iris scanner with eyeprint recognition technology, making use of front camera to scan the retina of the eye in locking and unlocking the smartphone, which saves the stress of manually entering passcode. Specwise, the Pride T500L features a 5-inch IPS touchscreen display with a full-HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with a clock speed of 1.5GHz, slammed with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. A 16GB storage is placed inside which is upgradeable up to 32GB via MicroSD card.
The TCL Pride T500L runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and offers dual SIM functionality with support of 4G LTE. Sitting at the back is a 13-megapixel autofocus camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor and LED flash, while it houses an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens camera with 88-degree view at the front. Connectivity options included beside 4G LTE are Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 3,050mAh battery.
