Tecno Mobile has yet again announced a new Android device in Kenya and Nigeria called PhonePad 3, few weeks after it made an official debuts of L9 Plus in aforementioned countries. The PhonePad series evolved from the Droipad series which first made their initial appearance in mid 2015 and are known to be the company’s portal of tablets and phablets in different sizes. As the name explicitly revealed (phone+pad), the PhonePad 3 is built to quench the fire of mobile users with undeniable passion for larger and more viewable display. It is more of a smartphone and a tablet combined.
Clad in a sleek 7.85mm thick metal body, the PhonePad 3 features a 7.0-inch IPS capacitive display with HD (1280×720) resolution, which offers multi-touch supports. It is powered by an unspecified quad-core MediaTek processor with a clock speed of 1.3GHz paired with 2GB of RAM, while 16GB of storage resides inside for offline hosting of files and data. The internal storage can be further expanded up to 128GB via external MicroSD slot included.

Perhaps the most exciting feature of Tecno latest tablet is its support of 4G LTE, which will be of great use since major network carriers in Nigeria such as MTN, Airtel, Etisalat and GLO has integrated it within their core network for lightning internet browsing. For now, It is not clear if the PhonePad 3 will be shipping with a single SIM or dual SIM slots.
In photography, it comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and twin-tone LED flash, while a 5-megapixel selfie camera is planted at the front, also accompanied with a single LED flash for good image capture in the dark. Some of the features implemented within the camera interface are Face Beauty, Face Detection and Geotagging.
Apart from 4G LTE, other connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi with Hotspot, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, USB OTG, and FM radio. It is backed by a hefty 4,100mAh Li-ion battery that can renders days of use in a single charge.
The Tecno PhonePad 3 is speculated to be priced within KSH 22,200 and KSH 22,500 in Kenya, which translates to roughly N69,000 Nigerian Naira. We should know the exact pricing in coming days.
