Xiaomi today introduced Mi Reader, the company’s first eReader that is designed and optimized for comfortable reading experience, even in a bright sunlit environment. The device has a 6-inch e-ink touchscreen that has a 1024×768 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 212PPI. Xiaomi said the screen can render up to 90-percent of brightness uniformity, thanks to its 24-level adjustable front-lit LED reading light.
Moreover, the screen is anti-glare, this reduces blur and eliminate fingerprints to some extent. The Mi Reader is lightweight, weighing just 178 grams for easy one hand grip. It runs an older version of Android, Android 8.1 Oreo to be precise, and has an inbuilt storage of 16GB that can store about 5000 ebooks, claimed the firm. The phablet is driven by an Allwinner B300 quad-core processor that is clocked at 1.8GHz, paired with 1GB of RAM.

The Mi Reader supports popular ebook formats including pdf, txt, epub, and Microsoft Office. Power is supplied by a 1,800mAh battery that can last for weeks in a single charge. The battery can charge via a USB Type-C port provided.
Themed in White front with Dark Grey back, the Mi Reader will be available through Mi Crowdfunding site from November 20th, with the price set at CN¥ 579 (US$82).
