Xiaomi has added a new budget smartphone to its Redmi collections in India. The new device named Redmi Note Prime was announced by the firm on Monday and it will be available starting from 15th of December exclusively on Amazon India and Mi.com at a price of Rs 8,499 ($130 USD).
The Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is a successor of Redmi Note that was launched in China in May but later went on sale in India in August last year. Specwise, it features a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, flaunting a pixel density of 268ppi. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with a clock speed of 1.2GHz, slammed with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU.

The Redmi Note Prime support dual SIM functionality but runs the now-dated Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box topped with MIUI 7.0. It houses a 16GB of built-in storage that is expandable via MicroSD card (up to 32GB). At the rear, the phone packs a 13-megapixel autofocus camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash, capable of recording full-HD (1080p) video, while it bears a 5-megapixel camera at the front.
Connectivity options onboard includes 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 3,100mAh battery.
Xiaomi in August launched Redmi Note 2 Prime in China, sporting a 5.5-inch full-HD display. 2.2GHz octa-core chipset, 32GB built-in storage along with other high-end specifications. The device is expected to launch in India soon.
