Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite are two Xiaomi smartphones that have just launched exclusively in India. Both device are entry-level in terms of specs, speaking of 5-inch HD display, 13MP rear camera and 3080mAh battery.
The Redmi Y1 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm processor and comes with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage. The Lite version however, is powered by a lesser quad-core Qualcomm processor and it only comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Their differences further extend to their camera properties, the first boasting a 16MP front-placed wide-angle camera lens, while the later sports a 5MP front camera. Also, only the Redmi Y1 has a fingerprint sensor.

These were launched as Redmi Note 5A in August in China. The ones released in India today comes with MIUI 8 and not MIUI 9 like the Chinese variants.

The Redmi Y1 3GB RAM+32GB storage version is priced Rs 8,999 ($135), while the 4GB RAM+64GB storage version costs Rs 10,999 ($165). The Redmi Y1 Lite on the other hand costs Rs 6,999 ($105). They will be available on Amazon India and Mi Store from November 8th.
