Sony Xperia Touch Android Projector with Interactive Image Projection Launched

Sony at this year Mobile World Congress unexpectedly announced a new technology device under its “Xperia” product series called Xperia Touch. The box-like rectangle-shaped projector can beam image of up to 1366×768 pixel resolution to a horizontal or vertical wall, which can be control with touch and gesture.

The image beam can be click and virtually interact with on any surface. The Xperia Touch uses Sony’s SXRD projection display technology to project images and has inbuilt camera with infra-red sensor that perceive and detect touch on the projected image in real-time.

The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Google apps pre-installed along with other applications such as calendar, weather, and memo. It comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB of built-in, and 13-megapixel camera with Exmor RS sensor. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11ac (SISO), USB Type-C port, HDMI Type-D port, GPS, and NFC. It also comes with various sensors including Ambient Light, Barometer, e-Compass, Temperature, and Humidity.

The Sony Xperia Touch is priced at €1,499 ($1,583). It will go on sale in Europe and other selected regions via the company online store and third-party retailers in Spring 2017.
