Alcatel at MWC earlier this year released Idol 4S running on Android OS, today, the firm has launched a new variant of the device running Windows 10 Mobile operating system exclusively on U.S network carrier T-Mobile. The Idol 4S Windows 10 edition just like its Android counterpart, is packaged in a box that can transform and be use as a VR (Virtual Reality) headset.
There have been improvements made in so many places even though both the Android and Windows variants looks identical on the outside. Starting from the processor, the Idol 4S Windows 10 edition packs a Snapdragon 820 chipset backed with 4GB of RAM, an upgrade from Snapdragon 652 and 3GB RAM that powered its predecessor. This also sports a 21MP rear-facing camera with 4K video recording capability, an immense upgrade from 16MP rear camera that takes the shot on its Android version, though the front camera changeth not in megapixel. The built-in storage has been up from 32GB to 64GB as well.

Another notable difference is their display. Both smartphones features 5.5-inch display quite alright but the resolution has been tuned down in the one Alcatel launched today. While the Android variant flaunt a Quad-HD (1440p) resolution, the newly introduced Idol 4S Windows 10 edition comes with a full-HD (1080p). Besides these changes all other specs remains the same.
As if the specs are not impressive enough, Alcatel also added Windows Continuum, a feature that allow users to plug the phone to external display and runs full desktop version of Windows 10 from their phone.
