Disk Partition, A Necessary Procedure for a Healthy Windows Disk Operation

EaseUS Partition Master and Disk Management

Setting up a newly bought personal computer or laptop might be an easy task for some individuals, but most time, some advance configurations that need to be properly set-up and tune for full efficiency and stability of the device are ignored, especially when such individual is a newbie.

Based on the maker or the model of the PC, some systems comes pre-installed with a fully activated operating system out-of-the-box and in few cases a blank DOS. In both cases, the system hardwares and specifications may be the same, but the difference in their software distinguishes how the systems should be handle and configure when turning them on for the first time.

Most laptop and desktop users tend to think that the most critical areas of PC that needs monitoring and paying attention to are the RAM, Processor, and Graphics, but little do they know that the overall well-being of the system lies on the Hard Disk.

All data processed, synchronized and shared within the PC when turn on and the efficiency of response within each component and hardware interacting with the operating system when functioning are govern and sorted out by the hard disk, a critical and major role that can only be handle by the hard disk.

It is not only the size, capacity, and RPM that determines the longevity of a hard disk, but how well it is maintain.

Failure of the hard disk is a failure of the system itself, but thankfully, technology have improved so many things among which is the hard disk we are talking about. There is a safe measure now in place for securing and protecting data in case the system fails or experience sudden error, this is called Partition.

In a simple term, Disk partition allowed PC users to create and manage multiple volumes (disk space) from a single hard disk drive (HDD).

Disk partition does not only prevent files and data lost, but it also allow users to runs different operating system separately on a single PC effectively.

For example, a hard disk with a 512GB storage capacity can be partitioned into two different drives, C and E, with the Drive C allocated a volume of 350GB and the drive E 135GB. The primary volume which is the drive C in most (if not all) cases is destined to accommodate the operating system and generic files on the PC, but an user can decide to save its personal and highly-valuable files to Drive E instead of Drive C, by doing this, incase the system got corrupt or experience virus attack that leads to system crash or corrupt of data, the files stored in Drive E will not be affected.

Formatting the system and installating a new Windows OS will not erase the files on the secondary drive E as well “unless” the user decides to. This is why it is necessary and recommended to partition a newly bought PC before the user start using it.

Windows OS (XP, 7, 8, 8.1, 10) comes pre-installed with disk management utility that enable users to partition their hard drive, however, the utility is not as effective when compared to other third-parties software specifically developed to do the job.

EaseUS Partition Master is a free partition tool that allow Windows users to easily partition, format, shrink, merge and extend the volume of their hard drives with no advance skill needed. The interface is easy to understand and there is a complete guide under the help menu to guide users thoroughly through the whole process.

With EaseUS Partition Master, the hard disk space can be expanded by merging two partitions to create a larger volume or shrink a partition with large volume by splitting the volume to create two new partitions. Let’s say a system have three partitions C, D, E, with C having an allocated space of 250GB, D having 100GB and E having 50GB, by using the software, users can merge drive E (50GB) to drive D (100GB) thereby expanding the volume of drive D to 150GB.

The EaseUS Partition Master for Windows 10 and previous Windows versions also allow PC users to fully wipe (erase) partition and disk permanently in one click. Another notable feature it offers is Partition Recovery Wizard, this enable users to recover deleted, lost or formatted partitions from unallocated space, a feature that Windows 10 disk management tool flatly lacked. During partitioning, the tool gives the option to convert from FAT to NTFS and vice versa. Partition Master is not only meant for Hard Disk Drive (HDD) as it can be use with Solid State Drive (SSD) as well.

Other features it offer includes converting MBR to GPT disk and vice versa, converting primary partition to logical partition and vice versa, and copying a full hard disk to another without Windows re-installation. EaseUS Partition Master supports all hard disk types, all hardware (RAID, GPT disk) and external removable drives with FAT, NTFS, EXT2, EXT3, and ReFS file systems.

Windows Operating System supported includes Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and XP 32-bit and 64-bit. No special requirements are involved and it is readily available for free. Download EaseUS Partition Recovery from HERE.
