The Chinese tech company popularly known as the “Apple of China”, Xiaomi, today has launched a new mirrorless camera called YI-M1 with 20-megapixel Sony IMX269 sensor. The device can capture up to 50MP still image from 0.3MP and excrete it in RAW and JPEG formats. It has an interchangeable lens design and comes with a mechanical shutter with manual focus supported.
The YI-M1 features One-Touch Focus, Continuous Auto Focus, Touch Focus and Shot, and face detection. At the rear is a 3-inch LCD touch display with 720×480 pixel resolution that let users preview image before it is captured in different scene modes, these includes portrait, landscape, sport, firework, and sunset. Pictures taken can also be edited. For instance, JPEG can be convert to RAW and coloured photos to black and white.

Notably, the Xiaomi YI M1 supports HDR and Panorama. It can record video in 4K (3840×2160) resolution @30fps; in 2K (2048×1536) resolution @30fps, down to VGA (640×480) @240fps, and lets you even watch the video and listen to the recorded audio via a mono speaker built inside, thanks to memory slot onboard that will readily accept SD / SDHC and SDXC cards with up 512GB capacity. Captured images and videos can also be watch directly on a monitor or TV via micro-HDMI and USB ports provided.
Bluetooth 4.1 and WiFi that comes with the camera let users share captured photos and videos to smartphone and supported wireless-enabled devices. According to Xiaomi, the Lithium-ion battery included with the YI-M1 can take up to 450 shots in a single charge. Alongside with the camera, Xiaomi also introduced two lens kits, 12-40mm f/3.5-5.6 lens and 42.5mm f/1.8 lens.
The YI M1 mirrorless camera will be available from the 23rd of September at a starting price of CNY 2199 ($330 USD) for the standard version with zoom lens, and CNY 2999 ($450 USD) with dual lens kit. Global availability is unknown.
