LG V20 Goes Official with Android 7.0 Nougat, Dual Display, Triple Cameras

As expected, the South Korean tech giant today has officially announced its latest flagship (and the most anticipated) smartphone today at an organized event in San Francisco, we are talking about V20. From its physical to all that is inside LG has done a wonderful job in making sure the phone standout among the crowd. The company was the first to introduced a secondary front-facing display on Android which is found on V10 before “others” start trekking the same path, and notably the V20 boast same feature too— a larger one to be precise.

The phone comes with a 5.7-inch IPS Quantum display with Quad-HD (2560×1440) resolution which round up the pixel density to 513ppi. Above the main display is a secondary 2.1-inch screen with a pixel resolution of 160×1040 that flaunt same Quantum technology. The V20 second display is claimed by LG to offer more visibility, higher brightness and larger text when compare with its predecessor the V10, though it present same functionality. The tiny always-on display lets users check time, missed calls and other notifications without turning on the main screen. It also let users control music playlist.

Another notable feature of LG V20 is its dual horizontally-align back cameras. The first flaunt a 16-megapixel sensor with three Autofocus mechanism, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), Laser Auto Focus (LAF), and Contrast Auto Focus (CAF), supported with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for best photo capture. This camera has f/1.8 aperture and 75-degree angle lens and is capable of recording 4K video, thanks to dual-tone LED flash onboard that makes photo-shooting in low-light condition not a problem. The secondary back camera features an 8-megapixel sensor with 135-degree angle lens view. There is also a 5-megapixel camera at the front with 120-degree wide-angle lens for taking selfie, also capable recording video in 1080p.

The LG V20 is the first smartphone to boot Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and also the first to utilize Google’s In-Apps feature that enable users to search and find content within system apps and user-installed apps. For best audio sound quality, LG has included premium audio engine B&O and 32-bit Hi-Fi ESS SABRE ES9218 Quad DAC.

The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Adreno 530 GPU. A 64GB of storage is placed inside which can be further expanded up to 2TB via MicroSD card. For smart security, a fingerprint sensor is equipped at the rear while Bluetooth 4.2 LE, WiFi 802.11ac (dual band), 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C are offered as connectivity options. A 3200mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 turn the device on.

LG is yet to reveal pricing details of its V20 smartphone but it is expected to go on sale later this month in Korea. It is painted in Pink, Silver, and Titan colours.
