Huawei Outs MediaPad M2 7.0 Android Tablet with Fingerprint Sensor, 3GB RAM

The G9 Lite is not the only device launched by Huawei yesterday, the company also announced MediaPad M2 7.0, a new addition to M2 family which already consists of MediaPad M2 8.0 released in May last year, and MediaPad M2 10.0 launched at CES in January. As its name already depicted, the tablet features a 7-inch IPS capacitive touch display with full-HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, which is fair enough. Huawei however has decided to tune things down on the inside, powering the tablet is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, a mid-range in formation rather than high-range that powered other of its family. 3GB of RAM braces the processor while Adreno 405 handles the graphics.

Notably, the MediaPad M2 7.0 is Huawei first tablet to sports a fingerprint sensor, which is located beneath the physical home button placed at the side. It comes in two variants, WiFi and LTE, both further split into two storage categories, 16GB and 32GB. The WiFi model comes in 16GB version only while the LTE model maintains both sides of storage versions. In addition, the LTE model has two SIM slots for dual use. Android 5.1 Lollipop drive all software activities, topped with Huawei Emotion UI 3.1. In photography, a 13-megapixel camera is equipped at the rear with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel camera at the front for taking selfie. On the connectivity front, the device supports Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi, 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+ (optional), GPS and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 4360mAh battery.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 7.0 WiFi model is priced at $230 USD, the 16GB LTE version at $292 USD, and the 32GB LTE version at $323 USD. It will be available starting this week in China. No details regarding availability for other regions.
