Cat may not be well recognize when it comes to fashion luxury smartphones and normal routine mobile devices, but when it comes to rugged strengthened mobile devices, they are simply un-neglectable. We doubt who really comes first between them and Kyocera. The company today has made a new addition to its rugged smartphone family named S60.
The ruggedness of Cat S60 first start from its waterproof capability, with its ability to survive up to 60 minutes in 5 metres deep of water. As far as waterproof smartphones are concerned, non has been able to breath for 60 minutes in 3 metres deep of water talkless of 5 metres and that’s not all. The second highlight is integrated thermal camera equipped at its rear that can detect heatloss and provide visibility in complete darkness. The camera which is made by FLIR, can visualize heat that is invisible to human eye, and measures temperature from a distance of up to 100 feet.

Also, the Cat S60 can survive a drop from up to 1.8 metres on concrete floor and is dustproof. With these extraordinary abilities, the device supercede Military standard (MIL-STD) that many other devices boasts of. In addition, it touchscreen can be operate with wet fingers and while wearing hand gloves.
Technically, the Cat S60 features a 4.7-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) multitouch display protected on the top by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, coupled with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. The smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and packs a 32GB of internal storage.
A 13-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash is equipped at the rear, with a dedicated FLIR thermal camera placed above it, while it houses a 5-megapixel camera at the front. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi, 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, and GPS. It is backed by a 3,800mAh battery.
The Cat S60 will be priced at €649 ($599 USD) when it go on sale. It will be showcase at MWC in Barcelona next week.
