If you are into hard-core gaming or something more workload demanding, you might want to consider Lenovo latest offering, ThinkPad P50 and ThinkPad P70, classified as “mobile workstation” because of their unrestricted workforce. These beasts are built to trample on day-to-day challenges you face on your traditional laptop, they are unlike what we normally see everyday.
These are the first device to be equipped with Intel Xeon processor, E3-1500M v5 to be precise, based on Skylake microarchitecture, coupled with Nvidia Quadro GPU – offering lightning-speed processing and performance. The laptops support up to 64GB of DDR4 ECC RAM and can use four external storage devices at once with supports of up to 1 Terabyte of SSD (Solid State Drive) or 2 Terabyte of HDD (Hard Disk Drive). Also, the Lenovo ThinkPad P50 and ThinkPad P70 comes included with Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C that offers up to 40Gbps data transfer speed. The Thunderbolt 3 was announced by Intel in the first week of June and it seem these device are the first to use it.

With that said, the P50 and P70 have 15.6-inch 4K and 17-inch 4K or Full-HD (optional) display respectively,both running Windows 10 Pro out-of-the-box. Customers can also opt-in for Windows 8.1 Pro or even Windows 7 base on their choice. DVD-RW drive comes as an optional addition with P50, but the P70 is unsupported. Besides Thunderbolt 3, other connectivity options included are 4x USB 3.0, HDMI 1.4 port, Ethernet port, MiniDisplay port 1.2, Smart card reader, Microphone/Headphone jack. The P50 measures 377.4 x 252.3 x 24.5 – 25.9mm and weighs 2.5kg, while the P70 measures 416 x 275.5 x 29.9 – 31.5mm and weighs 3.4kg. The laptops are powered by 4-cell 66Whr and 6-cell 96Whr batteries, respectively.
The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 pricing starts at $1,599 (#320,000 NGN), and ThinkPad P70 at $1,999 (#400,000 NGN). Both will be available from Q4 2015.
