As promised, OnePlus has finally launched its 2015 flagship smartphone in a VR event that took place few hours ago, the OnePlus 2. Though much of its specifications has already been guessed, the device still has a suprise package contained within that no one expected. What quails our heart and suck out the joy of its arrival is you’ll have to fight head and toe to lay your hands on one, the queue is long and carrying basket full of $$ won’t help much in getting it quickly.
The OnePlus 2 comes in two variants with different pricing, the 3GB RAM/16GB storage version cost $329 USD (#65,480 NGN) while 4GB RAM/64GB storage version is priced at $389 (#77,420 NGN). It will be available via Invite System only starting from 11th of August in US, UK/Europe, India, and China, after which it will begin to roll out to other regions. As to its specifications, the OnePlus 2 features same 5.5-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display just like its predecessor, with 1500:1 contrast ratio, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is driven by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 (heating issues quenched) coupled with Adreno 430 GPU. The device offers dual-SIM functionality with both supporting 4G LTE and runs OxygenOS based on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.
As claimed earlier by the firm, the OnePlus 2 home button is embedded below with fingerprint scanner that is expected to be faster than Apple TouchID, we’ll have to wait and see. Also, there’s a reversible USB Type-C connection port onboard which promise faster data transfer rate and can be use to connect with other USB compatible devices. In camera aspect, the OnePlus 2 is equipped with a 13-megapixel camera with laser auto focus, OIS (optical image stabilization), f/2.0 aperture at the rear with 4K video recording capability, while a 5-megapixel camera is placed at the front for selfie shot.
Connectivity options included are Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n /Wifi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and OTG. A 3300mAh battery turn on the device.
