Huawei held an event in Shanghai on Thursday where it announced its first 2-in-1 “Always Connected” Windows 10 PC, the MateBook E (2019), joining the likes of Lenovo Yoga C630 WOS and Samsung Galaxy Book2. The 2-in-1 convertible is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 processor, which is specifically made to deliver the best battery life possible in ultra-thin laptops and outstanding performance in wireless connectivity.
The device features a 12-inch QHD (2160×1440) touch-sensitive IPS display that touts 3:2 aspect ratio, 350 nits of brightness, and 160-degree viewing angle. The display has the supports for Huawei M Pen (2048 levels of pressure sensitivity), which can be purchased separately. It comes bundled with a keyboard (not backlit) that can be detached depending on an user needs as well.

The exterior of the MateBook E 2019 is wrapped in leather (including the keyboard) for premium feel and it also has a built-in kickstand that can be used to prop the display in a slant position – this should come useful when watching movies, or when laptop mode is enabled. Coupled with the Snapdragon 850 are Adreno 630 GPU and 8GB of RAM, while the storage is offered in either 256GB (UFS) or 512GB (UFS) depending on the model.
The processor bring the supports for 4G LTE Cat.16 via the onboard nano SIM slot, Bluetooth 5, and WiFi 802.11ac (4×4 MIMO) for raw wireless connectivity. USB Type-C port (charging and data transfer) and 3.5mm audio jack were also provided for wired connection. Users can harness the power of undiluted speed that the connectivity brought by using the pre-installed Huawei Share for transferring data to-and-fro on the device.
Furthermore, the MateBook E 2019 sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for photography. It comes equipped with dual speaker that is tuned by Dolby Atmos, and it also housed a side-mounted fingerprint reader that supports Windows Hello biometric security. The laptop draw its power from a 36.3Wh battery that can render up to 10 hours of Full HD video playback in a single charge. Fast charging enabled lets the battery charge from 0% to 88% in 90 minutes.
The MateBook E 2019 is available for order at Huawei Mall online electronic store for CNY 3999 (US$595) for the 256GB storage version, and CNY 4999 (US$744) for the 512GB storage version. Buyers have the option to chose between Charm Sea Blue and Titanium Ash colors.
