As expected, Samsung at its unpacked event at MWC in Barcelona announced its latest galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, both featuring the last year infinity display with ultra-thin bezel design. The screen size and resolution still remains the same with the last year model, but these are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipset or Samsung’s new Exynos 9 series chipset, depending on region.
They retains the RAM and storage capacity of their predecessor and the camera is much alike, however, Samsung has implemented a variable aperture (first seen in Galaxy W2018 flip phone) for better low-light capture. The camera switches back and forth from f/2.4 to f/1.5 depending on lighting condition. Also, the Galaxy S9+ camera can now record 960fps slow-mo video, this is a notable upgrade from 480fps on Galaxy S8+.

The fingerprint sensor has been shifted from the side of the rear camera to below for easy access. Another addition worth talking about is the new AR Emoji, Samsung own answer to Apple’s iPhone Animoji, which uses machine learning to analyze and map more than 100 facial features to create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions. Emoji created can be use as a sticker, as a GIF, or exported as a video.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ comes with stereo speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos supports for best audio experience.

Update
Samsung at its unpacked event also launched a new DeX Pad accessory for the Galaxy S9’s, an upgrade of the last year model. This will let users fully operate the device when connected to an external display without the need of separate keyboard and mouse.
The new DeX Pad have a USB-C port that let users connect their Galaxy S9 and use the phone touchscreen as the keyboard and mouse. The DeX Pad has a horizontal flat surface where the phone will be mounted. After pairing the DeX Pad to an external display such as a LCD monitor, users can do all the typing and clicking on their phone screen.
There are additional ports, however, that let users attach a physical keyboard or mouse if they do wish. Connectivity port included are 2x USB ports, HDMI port, and Ethernet port apart from USB-C.
Samsung is yet to reveal the pricing and availability of the device.
