At its special event held in San Francisco, Google today announced a new convertible laptop called PixelBook, a 12.3-inch laptop that runs the company’s proprietary Chrome OS out-of-the-box. The device is claimed by Google to be the first laptop to comes with Google Assistant built-in.
The PixelBook is further praised by the California-based technology company as the slimmest and lightest laptop it has ever released, measuring just 10.3mm at its thinnest point while the overall body weight is 1.1 kilograms. Its lightweight ultra-thin body feels solid and premium to touch, thanks to its metal design.

Its 12.3-inch multitouch display can be rotate up to 360-degree to use in four different modes, tablet, tent, laptop and stand, providing users the flexibility of use in any environment. Google is also offering an optional stylus dubbed PixelBook Pen with 2,000 levels of pressure sensitivity for taking note, drawing and sketching on the display. The Pen has a dedicated button that can highlight a text or image when pressed and circle around the object.
The Google Assistant feature is made easy and can be activated in one click via a dedicated key provided. Users can also activate Assistant by saying “Ok Google”. This allow users to do basic search, find answers and perform tasks using their voice. Another notable feature worth mentioning is Play Store, which comes pre-installed on the device. This gives users access to wide variety of apps, games and other useful contents.
The PixelBook is offered in Core i5 /Core i7 processor variant with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of SSD included. Battery onboard is said by Google to last up to 10 hours in a single charge.
The Google PixelBook pricing starts at $999 for the basic model with Core i5 and 8GB of RAM, while the Pen costs $99. It will be available in the U.S, Canada and the U. K via Best Buy, Google Store and other select stores. Pre-orders kick-start today and shipping from October 31st.
