Acer Announced New Swift, Spin and Switch Convertible Windows 10 Laptops

Acer Spin 5 SP515-51N with 8th Gen Core

Having unveiled a new Chromebook laptop, Acer at the IFA 2017 event has announced three new Windows 10 laptops namely, Spin 5 (SP515-51N), Swift 5 (SF514-52T), and Switch 7 Black Edition.

The first which is the cheapest among the three, the Spin 5, comes in 13-inch and 15-inch display models, the first measuring 15.9mm at its thinnest point and weighing 1.5 kg, while the later is slightly thick at 17.9mm and a little heavier with its 2 kg body weight. Being a convertible, the laptop display can be tilted up to 360-degree to use in four different modes, tablet, tent, display and laptop, depending on users needs and work environment. There is an optional Acer Active Stylus included as well.

The new Spin 5 is coupled with 8th Gen Intel Core processors with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM. The 15-inch model comes with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT1050 Graphics while some models packs integrated GPUs. For rich audio and quality sound output, the convertible two front speakers is baked in with Acer proprietary TrueHarmony technology and Dolby Audio Premium. It also has four integrated microphones with far-field voice recognition technology, usable for Cortana.

Acer Swift 5 SF514-52T

Moving on, the Swift 5 (SF514-52T) has a sleek metal body design that doesn’t adds to its weight, with the palm rest, lid and bottom cover made of magnesium alloy. It comes in 14-inch display model only though with a capacitive multitouch touchscreen, flaunting a full-HD (1920×1080) pixel resolution. The laptop is not convertible, meaning there is a limit to the angle the display can be rotated.

It is powered by 8th Gen Intel Core processors and comes accompanied with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 256GB of SSD. It has a fingerprint scanner that works with Windows Hello and its built-in dual speakers also touts Acer TrueHarmony and Dolby Audio Premium. Battery onboard is claimed to last up to 13 hours.

Acer Switch 7 Black Edition

Lastly, the Switch 7 Black Edition is a powerful fanless 2-in-1 hybrid Windows laptop with detachable keyboard that sports an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 Graphics, driven by an 8th-Generation Intel Core i7 processor. With Acer’s Dual LiquidLoop fanless cooling technology implemented into its fanless design, the laptop is guaranteed to remain cool during intensive use.

The Switch 7 Black Edition features a 13.5-inch 2256×1504 touch display with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and 201PPI pixel density. There is a kickstand bolted to its back called Acer AutoStand that can be auto-deployed and auto-restracted, providing the benefits of operating the display in various sitting angle and easy adjustment. Furthermore, the laptop has an optical under-glass fingerprint sensor that can be use to turn on the device and login in one click.

The Acer Spin 5 pricing starts at US$799, the Swift 5 at US$999, while the Switch 7 Black Edition costs US$1,699. The first will be available from September and the later two in December in the United States.
