The ankle injury, the same injury sustained from a tackle by Thomas Meunir in the Champions League match vs PSG last November, has prevented Hazard from reaching peak form with Real Madrid. The club are looking to use the preseason to propely prepare Hazard from a physical standpoint.

According to a report from El Partidazo de Cope, Eden Hazard has been placed on a specific training regimen to improve his physical condition and stabilize his ankle.

Those same reports indicate that Hazard will not have a role to play in the La Liga opener vs Real Sociedad.

The timeline of Hazard’s gradual inclusion into the squad has not yet been made clear, but he is expected to be on the new regime for at least 4-6 weeks.

Along with Hazard, four other players who trained indoors today. Luka Jovic, Lucas Vazquez, Gareth Bale, and Martin Odegaard all worked in the gym this morning rather than joining group training on the pitch.

The positive news on the injury front, was Marco Asensio’s return to the pitch. The midfielder worked individually, but appears to be on the mend after concerns following a swollen knee — the same knee he was operated on 12 months ago.
