HTC One S9 with 5″ FHD display, Helio X10 chipset hits Germany

HTC on Tuesday silently launched a new flagship device under its One series in Germany named One S9, the second smartphone to wear the “S” model name in the company’s portfolio after One S that was released in 2012. It is wrapped in a full metal body that measures 144.6×69.7×10.09mm and weight 158 grams. The phone features a 5-inch IPS display flaunting a full-HD (1920×1080) resolution and a pixel density of 441ppi. The display is protected on the surface with Corning Gorilla Glass against scratch.

Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor with a clock speed of 2.0GHz, clubbed with 2GB of RAM and PowerVR G6200 GPU. There is a 16GB of built-in storage onboard that can be further expanded up to 2TB via MicroSD card. Notably, the One S9 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box enhanced with the company Sense UI. In photography, the phone sports a 13-megapixel camera at the rear with f/2.0 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization and twin LED flash, while an UltraPixel camera is equipped at the front. The rear camera can record video in 4K and the front camera in full-HD.

Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac (dual band), 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS and NFC. It comes in Gold, Silver and Gunmetal Grey colours and is backed by a 2840mAh battery.

The HTC One S9 is priced at €499 ($563 USD) and is expected to go on sale sometime in May. Availability outside Germany is unknown.
