As CES is rounding up, HMD Global, the company that acquired exclusive licence last year to sell Nokia phones has announced its first Android smartphone that will be bearing the Nokia branding dubbed Nokia 6. The device which measures just 7.8mm at its thinnest point features a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved glass display with full-HD (1920×1080 pixel) resolution, protected on the surface by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Notably, the Nokia 6 runs Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. It also packs dual speakers with smart amplifier and Dolby Atmos for immersive listening pleasure, and there are dual microphones onboard, one placed at the front and the other at back. Diving in, the smartphone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 505 GPU.

The dual-SIM enabled Nokia 6 sports a fingerprint sensor beneath the physical home button for smart security and authentication. In photography, it comes equipped with a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and twin-tone LED flash, while an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens camera with f/2.0 aperture sits at the front. Connectivity options included with the device are Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi, 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, and USB OTG. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery.
The Nokia 6 is painted in Black colour only. It is aimed at Chinese market and will not be coming to other regions, atleast for now. It will be available for purchase on e-Store JD.com before Q2 2017 at a price of CNY 1699 (US$245).
In December last year, live images of two Nokia Android smartphones, D1C and E1, leaked online. Looking at the images thoroughly, we noticed that the Nokia logo is placed at the top-right above the display on both device. It isn’t coincidental that the newly announced Nokia 6 also bears the logo in the exact position. This truely confirms that the D1C and E1 live images were real and the phones exist.
