LG on Thursday announced “Action CAM”, a portable camera that has a 12.3-megapixel sensor with 150-degree wide-angle lens, meant to capture all the action and fun on-the-go without advance photography skills. The action camera works independently and does not rely on any third-party applications. While it can maintain its own standard solely, the Action CAM comes with Bluetooth and WiFi wireless connectivity and can be paired with smartphones. When paired, users can download captured photos and recorded videos straight to their connected smartphones.
The LG Action CAM also has 4G LTE. With this feature, users can live stream videos directly to YouTube in real-time without the need of pairing it with a mobile phone. The camera can record video in UHD @30fps, full-HD (1920×1080) @60fps, and HD (720p) @120fps, and HD @30fps for streaming video. Not neglecting the rugged part, it is dustproof and waterproof certified with IP57 ratings, giving it the possibility to survive up to 30 minutes in one meter deep of water.

To better capture every single details when action is at its peak, Gyroscope and Accelerometer sensors are put in place. To remotely control this camera would be great, but for now it is lacking in this aspect, though LG promised a software update to fix that, but the timing is not mentioned. LG Action CAM will be available in June starting in Korea, and from there will roll out to other select regions.
