Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Goes Official with 7.9″ Display, 4GB RAM, 6600mAh Battery

The Apple of China, Xiaomi, today has officially announced Mi Pad 3, the company’s latest Android tablet and the succesor of Mi Pad 2 that was released in 2015. Much like its predecessor , it is clad in a sleek metal body that measures just 6.95mm at its thinnest point, painted in Gold color. Most of the specs still remains the same including the display, built-in storage, and connectivity.

Specwise, the tablet features a 7.9-inch multi-touch display with 2048×1536 pixel resolution, 326ppi pixel density, and 4:3 aspect ratio. Xiaomi has dumped Intel chipset and instead opted for hexa-core MediaTek MT8176 processor on its latest device, with the clock speed being set at 2.1GHz. Closely following is IMG GX6250 GPU for Graphics and 4GB of RAM for multitasking.

The Mi Pad 3 includes a 64GB of inbuilt storage with no external storage supports. Android 6.0 Marshmallow buttered with MIUI 8.0 takes care of software activities and sitting right at the back is a 13-megapixel autofocus camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording ability, while an 8-megapixel camera is equipped at the front for taking selfie. To reminds you, the Mi Pad 2 comes with 8MP and 5MP cameras, we consider this as an upgrade.

Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac (dual band), WiFi Direct, and USB Type-C. It is backed by a 6,600mAh/6,400mAh non-removable battery.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 will be available from Thursday 6th of April in China at CNY 1499 ($217).

The LTE variant of Mi Pad 3 with SIM slot is expected to launch soon.
