One of the smartphones we nearly skipped at IFA but was brought back due to change of will is Axon Elite, the top and most highly specd in Axon series. You might have heard about Axon before, yea, that’s because one device bearing that name was recently released globally and two device bearing that name was strictly made available in China in recent weeks. ZTE new sub-brand series, Axon, was meant to be a flagship from the very start and all device released under that name does look like one.

We already have Axon and Axon Lux which are meant for chinese market only, and Axon Pro meant for global markets. But the Axon Elite showcased by ZTE in Berlin capped them all. In terms of specifications, it is identical with Axon Lux right from the head to the bottom though their design doesn’t looks alike. Another difference that seperate the two is their display resolution and built-in storage, the Axon Elite has full-HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and 32GB storage while Axon Lux has QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution and 128GB storage.
We can only assume one thing and that is, Axon Elite is the international variant of Axon Lux. Both are almost the same (in specs), but one is meant for China only while the other is meant for all regions.
The ZTE Axon Elite has a 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU, 13-megapixel camera with twin-toned LED flash accompanied with a secondary 2-megapixel rear camera for depth sensing, 8-megapixel front camera and 3,000mAh battery. It also sports a fingerprint scanner at the back and has eyeprint ID integrated with the front camera.
The Axon Elite will start shipping globally from this month (September) with a price tag of €419.99 (US$466). These includes France, Germany, Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Italy, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Thailand, Spain and Russia.
