All candidates that register for JAMB are required to sit for 4 subjects in their UTME, with the Use Of English being the first and compulsory for all(irrespective of department or course) .
A lot of candidates want to study economics in different institutions. The question that comes to their mind is, “What is the JAMB subject combination for economics?“. That is the exact question I will answer in this article.
JAMB Subject Combination for economics include the four subjects(English+3 other subjects) you are required to take in JAMB in order to qualify for admission.
Olevel requirements for economics include the minimum grades you should have in WAEC/NECO/GCE in order to qualify for admission.
Direct entry requirements for economics contain the minimum UTME and O’level requirements needed to gain admission directly into 200L to study economics.

JAMB Subject Combination For Economics
Now that you have decided to study economics, I will show you the JAMB subject combination for economics. These are the subjects you are required to choose during JAMB registration.
- Use of English(Compulsory).
- Mathematics
- Economics and;
- Any of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French and CRK/IRK
WAEC/O’Level Requirements For Economics
If you want to study economics, the minimum O’level requirement for economics and Subject needed can be found below.
- English Language (Minimum:credit)
- Mathematics (Minimum:credit)
- Economics
- Any other 2 subjects (Minimum:credit)
You require; Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) of Arts or Social Science subjects.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) AUN does not offer admissions direct to 200 level programs.
(ii) AUN accepts
a) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, History, Literature in English, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and French.
b) ND/HND
c) ICGSE and ‘A’ level Cambridge
(iii) AUN does not accept credit passes in the following; Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home Management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book Keeping, Islamic Studies, History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study Skills and may transfer credits relevant to its major at the discretion of the Dean of school.
(iv) ABSU requires five (5) O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) subjects
(v) MCPHERSON and PLASU – Same as in Accountancy.

Below is the direct entry requirements for economics:
You require; Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one (1) of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.
