New SanDisk Ultra 400GB Claims World’s Highest Capacity MicroSD Card

Roughly 2.5 years ago at MWC 2015 SanDisk (now Western Digital) launched a MicroSD card that touted 200GB storage which claimed world’s highest capacity at then, now, the company has taken two steps further by unveiling world’s first 400GB MicroSDXC card at IFA 2017 in Berlin.

The card branded as SanDisk Ultra 400GB MicroSDXC, has a read speed of up to 100MBps and can store up to 1,200 digital photos per minute and up to 40 hours full-HD video. Much like other SanDisk memory card, it is waterproof, X-ray proof, shockproof, and temperature-proof.

Western Digital said the SD card meets the Application Performance Class 1 (A1) requirements from the latest SD Association’s SD 5.1 specifications that lets the card to load apps faster, the spec allows the new card to manage random read input-output access per second (IOPS) of 1,500 and write input-output access per second of 500.

SanDisk Memory App pre-loaded on the card let users view, access and backup their phone’s file easily in one location.

The 400GB SanDisk MicroSD card comes with a MSRP price tag of $249.99 with ten years limited warranty included. It will be available in select markets including U.S in coming weeks.
