Computex 2017 just kick-start with the Taiwanese firm Asus leading the way with a new ultra-thin convertible laptop dubbed ZenBook Flip S (UX370), which Asus is claiming as world’s thinnest laptop and one of the lightest laptop ever launched. The device has a sleek minimalistic body design that is just 10.9mm thick, weighing 1.1kg.
As a convertible, the laptop display can be vertically flipped up to 360-degree to use in various modes including tent and tablet, thanks to its powerful “ErgoLift” hinge, which can also lift the keyboard when the display is positioned beyond 135-degree for comfortable typing.

The ZenBook Flip S features a 13-inch NanoEdge multi-touch display that boasts of up to 4K resolution, readily configured to work with Asus Active Stylus pen. It is powered by up to a seventh-generation Intel Core i7 7500U (Kabylake) processor, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD.
The ultra-thin laptop speakers are Harman Kardon certified and there is a fingerprint scanner onboard as well that will seamlessly work with Windows Hello for one-touch login. The ZenBook Flip S (UX370) battery can renders up to 11 hours of usage time in a single charge. With fast charging supports, the battery can be charge up to 60% within 49 minutes.
It will be available in North America from September at a starting price of US$1,099.
Asus ZenBook Pro (UX550)
Closely following is ZenBook Pro (UX550) which is also being touts as one of thinnest and lightest Windows 10 laptop around, measuring just 18.9mm at its thinnest point while weighing 1.8kg. Its curved metal unibody design gives it a distinct premium look but this is not a convertible, so, it has a fixed 15.6-inch 4K UHD NanoEdge display with a limited rotating angle.
A seventh-generation quad-core Intel Core i7-7700HQ (Kabylake) processor powered it on the inside, clubbed with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050i Ti GPU, and 1TB PCIe x4 SSD. The quad-speaker loaded on the ZenBook Pro (UX550) is Harman Kardon certified and it sports a fingerprint scanner for Windows Hello login as well, just like ZenBook Flip S.
In connectivity, the laptop comes with 2x USB Type-A ports, 2x USB Type-C ports (with Thunderbolt 3), HDMI 1.4 port, MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Battery included is claimed to last up to 14 hours in a single charge and it also supports fast charging.
The ZenBook Pro pricing starts at US$1,299. It will be available in summer.
